On 12 October, the CCPIT hosted a high-level video conference joined by HRH Prince Charles and Chinese entrepreneurs. Under the theme of "Common Earth, Common Future", 20 enterprises from energy, environmental protection, finance, manufacturing, communications, biomedicine, artificial intelligence and infrastructure participated the event, with the aim of promoting active participation of the Chinese business community in the Sustainable Markets Initiative proposed by Prince Charles and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between Chinese and global enterprises in the field of sustainable development. As a representative of private enterprises in the environmental protection field, China Tianying was invited to attend the conference.
Prince Charles, Zheng Zeguang, Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Gao Yan, President of the CCPIT, and Brian Moynihan, chairman of Bank of America and Co-Chair of the Initiative attended the conference and delivered speeches.
The conference was also attended by representative enterprises from various industries, such as China Huaneng, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, Bank of China and Trina Solar. The participants exchanged conversations with Prince Charles on the following six topics: improving energy efficiency, fostering green and low-carbon lifestyle, encouraging private sector participation in biodiversity governance, improving green financial markets, encouraging innovative solutions and strengthening market exchanges.
Ambassador Zheng Zeguang warmly congratulated the successful holding of the conference and pointed out that China is firmly promoting low-carbon development, protecting biodiversity and addressing climate change. China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and a series of major initiatives are not only to achieve its own sustainable development, but also to contribute to the global response to climate change. Ambassador Zheng called on Chinese and British enterprises to actively cooperate bilaterally and in countries along the Belt and Road to help the both sides achieve low-carbon development, and contribute to the building of a greener planet for all.
